About

Stirling is a five-star rated institution for teaching, employability, research, internationalisation. We’re proud of the way we prepare our students with life-long career and employability skills. It’s why 93% of our graduates were in employment or further study fifteen months after graduation (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2021, HESA). Our students love the way we teach. As part of the QS Stars University Ratings 2021, the University of Stirling was awarded 5 stars in the areas of teaching and employability.

Our stunning campus, with its castle and loch enjoys views of the foothills of the Scottish Highlands. Our campus enjoys a vibrant and friendly atmosphere – we’re 1st in the UK and 5th in the World for campus environment (UK International Student Barometer (ISB) Benchmark and Global ISB Benchmark 2018).

We’re continuing to improve the Stirling experience. Our beautiful 330-acre campus has recently undergone a £43million redevelopment, delivering iconic new sports facilities – befitting our long-standing designation as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence – as well as modern social learning and study spaces in Campus Central. These major projects complement our existing on-site facilities, which include a theatre, cinema, cafés, restaurants, a pharmacy and supermarket.

Stirling is an international university that welcomes the world with proud Scottish hospitality. You will enjoy an immersive, global experience, with more than 120 nationalities represented on campus, and making friends couldn’t be easier through our vibrant Students’ Union, which offers over 120 clubs and societies, and a fantastic range of entertainment and support services.

City of Stirling and beyond

We’re proud to call Stirling our home – a city shaped by its unique history, with a lively arts scene and the beauty of a national park close by.

Our vibrant city is known as the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’, and is a fantastic place to stay during your studies. It combines the charm of a historic destination with the buzz of a young population – 20% of Stirling’s population is aged between 16 and 29 years (National Records of Scotland 2016). With easy access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow (both around 50 minutes away by road or rail), you have the benefit of two of Scotland’s largest cities nearby for weekend adventures.

With a population of almost 100,000, the bustling city of Stirling provides a great community for city life, with the tranquillity of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park only 30 minutes away. When you come to Stirling, you may never want to leave.
